Durante estos días, estamos labrando los ajos. Una vez que tienen una altura de más de 15 cm y la raíz está bien agarrada a la tierra, podemos hacer esta tarea sin problema. Después de esto, comenzarán los riegos de primavera y de verano, que serán cada vez más frecuentes según aumente el calor (de esto hablaremos en algún futuro post), hasta unos días antes de arrancarlos.
Los objetivos principales de esta labor son: por un lado, romper la costra de la tierra y así conseguir que el agua pueda penetrar mejor y el otro objetivo es eliminar algunas malas hierbas que puedan ser arrancadas o tapadas por la tierra. Como podéis ver en las fotos, en algunos sitios tendremos que hacer una labor de escarda manual, pero esta es mínima.
El arado utilizado es un mini arado, ya que no se necesita hacer una labor profunda pero sí de gran precisión para evitar arrancar o dañar los mínimos ajos posibles. El nuestro es un arado muy sencillo pero algunos agricultores, sobre todo en la zona de Chinchón, utilizan arados más sofisticados, los cuales tienen tres brazos para el mismo surco, tal y como podéis ver en el vídeo.

May I ask you, how far is rows between?
I think that ride the tractor between rows with weeding machine is hard.
I can´t believe, that the distance between one row of garlic and second row of garlic is only 47 cm. How wide is your back tyre?
And the second time, your field is so clean. May I ask you,if you use some herbicide (weedkiller), if yes, please tell me which or only weeding machine?
I saw the video of sophisticated mini-cultichissel plougs which have three tools for one row and it´s incredible that the last wire can´t demage the garlic, because if I see good, that the wire goes over garlic..it is true or goes closely by the garlic?
I now, it´s a lot question….
